Building Confidence for Feeding Solutions and Strategies Based on the Neonatal Oral Motor Assessment Scale (NOMAS®)

Course Description : This 1-hour course will provide participants with the analysis and identification of the sucking pattern so that prescriptive therapeutic strategies may be implemented that will enable the infant to improve feeding abilities.  Specific treatment will be discussed for each sucking pattern.

Target Audience: OT, SLP, PT, RN, and Neonatal professionals

Level: Intermediate

CE Credit: 1 hour for PT, OT SLP

Objectives  

  1. Identify three sucking patterns.
  2. Name two types of dysfunctional suck patterns.
  3. Differentiate four intervention strategies for a baby with a disorganized suck pattern.
