Drs. Jean Beischel and Tom DeCilles have spent their careers treating patients in underserved rural areas from North Carolina to Indiana. For 30+ years, they have witnessed the challenges patients, their families, and clinicians face when geographically isolated from state-of-the-art education and resources available in most metropolitan areas. Dr. Beischel said, “As a pediatrician, I cared for babies, many of them preemies, for over three decades in rural hospitals – from delivery to transport if needed, reverse transport, supporting them as they fed and grew, and then for their well checks after discharge. The advances in neonatal therapies during our careers and the improved outcomes are phenomenal. We want all babies to have the best care regardless of where they are born.”
Therefore, they have generously provided a full tuition scholarship for one neonatal therapist (OT, PT, or SLP) to enroll in NANT’s Ignite Core Training and Mentoring Program, which includes ten months of self-paced, on-demand learning, featuring 13 recorded webinar trainings and nine live group Guidance Calls. The trainings provide a foundational education in the art and science of neonatal therapy and result in 16 contact hours or 1.6 CEUs for PT and OT and 1.6 ASHA CEUs for SLPs when completed.
This scholarship will be awarded to a therapist practicing in a rural, geographically isolated level II, III, or IV NICU to ensure they have access to nationally developed, peer-reviewed, evidence-based practices and standards for neonatal therapy.
