Course Description
This 1-hour course will provide participants with the analysis and identification of the sucking pattern so that prescriptive therapeutic strategies may be implemented that will enable the infant to improve feeding abilities. Specific treatment will be discussed for each sucking pattern.

Lecture, case studies, and videos. Learning assessment and course evaluation follow the course.
Course Completion Requirements
The learner must view the entire webinar, complete the course evaluation, and complete the post-webinar learning assessment with at least an 80% to receive education credit. Login and logout times are recorded and documented. Following completion of this course, physical therapists, nurses, and other disciplines will receive a certificate of completion and a zip file containing information necessary to submit to their individual state for education credit. Zip file will include course bibliography. Physical therapists are responsible for knowing and adhering to their state’s deadlines, rules, and regulations.
Speaker Bio
Marjorie Meyer Palmer, MA, NLP, CCC-SLP is a Speech Pathologist and Neonatal/Pediatric Feeding Specialist, formerly a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California-San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. She is Certified in Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT), an NFI Professional Member, author of the Neonatal Oral-Motor Assessment Scale (NOMAS®), and Founder/Director of NOMAS® International. Ms. Palmer has published several articles on the NOMAS® focusing on reliability, follow-up and predictability, and developmental progression, and has taught the NOMAS® Certification Course in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Canada, and the United States. Currently, there are established NOMAS® Training Sites in three U.S. Locations as well as the Middle East, and Ms. Palmer is in the process of establishing a new training site in Shanghai.
Brenda Takata, OTR/L, MHA, CNT, SWC, NLP has been an Occupational Therapist for 30 years, focusing on the NICU for the last 22 years. Her passion is helping parents feed their infants in a positive and caring way in the level 3B NICU at Emanate Health – Queen of the Valley Hospital. She is also part of the teaching team for the Neonatal Oral Motor Assessment Scale, a feeding evaluation that diagnoses the suck pattern, which leads to diagnostic based treatment strategies for feeding preemies and newborns.
