World Prematurity Day: Making a Difference

Tomorrow, November 17, is World Prematurity Day. Sharing statistics such as, “in the U.S. each year 1 in 10 babies are born preterm” shed a bright light on our patients and their families. Awareness can lead to additional research, innovation, prevention, treatment, resources, understanding, and compassion. And we hope the world responds with action-oriented support.

For you, it’s another workday caring for those very same sweet patients.

In 2017, we were lucky to have author Kelley French close the NANT Conference with the riveting, human, and raw story of her daughter’s early birth and NICU stay.

Let this excerpt from Kelly and Thomas French’s book Juniper remind you of the power you have every time you come to work to change a life, a family.

Take in those words. “It really did feel like I was whole again.”

Moments like this are why you do what you do.

Thank you – during Prematurity Awareness Month, on World Prematurity Day, and every single day.

P.S. Shout out to Juniper’s physical therapist Ana Maria Jara, the therapist in this excerpt and throughout the book!
