Nicholas Glynn Beischel Memorial Scholarship (new this year)

In 1991, Sue Ludwig’s brother Mark and sister-in-law Toni were preparing to have their second child, a son named Nicholas. The pregnancy was uneventful until 28 weeks of gestation when they received the diagnoses of diaphragmatic hernia and polyhydramnios with no other genetic abnormalities.

An intrauterine surgery was planned but never realized due to preterm labor. Nicholas was born on 6-9-91 at 31 weeks despite tocolysis and therapeutic amniocentesis. Their prayer was to make it to the NICU, no matter how long he may have to stay there. However, his pulmonary insufficiency was too significant, and instead, they held him close for the time he had.

Mark and Toni have 4 amazing living children. And they continue to honor Nicholas’ life and memory in meaningful ways. This scholarship is one of them.

If you’re a neonatal therapist (OT, PT, SLP) who works with infants in the NICU with complex medical/surgical/congenital problems, please complete the following form to apply for this scholarship, which covers tuition for the upcoming NANT Conference (any package) and one night’s stay in the Conference Hotel. Their hope is that this educational and inspirational experience will enhance the level of care provided to babies and families facing similar challenges.

This scholarship is open to NANT Members who fit the above criteria and meet the application deadline.

NANT Conference International Scholarship

There is nothing else in the world like the NANT Conference. Historically, at least 6 countries are represented at each event. We believe all participants benefit from experiencing cultural input and diversity. We also aim to improve neurodevelopmental outcomes on a global level by supporting our colleagues outside the U.S.

Therefore, NANT sponsors tuition for 1 international attendee for NANT 10 (and pre- conference, if desired.) *This scholarship does NOT cover travel or hotel expenses.

Obviously, you need to live outside the USA to apply!

Past scholarship recipients have come from India, South Africa, Greece, Portugal, Australia, and the UK.

This scholarship is given in the names of Sr. Lucy Beischel and Dr. Rae Hartman who for more than 8 decades have valued travel and education as well as travel AS education. They are now both in their 90s and treasure the story of the scholarship recipient each year.

Ann J. Beischel Scholarship for Family Centered Care

Ann Beischel (Sue Ludwig’s mom) has been a fervent supporter of NANT from the beginning. She generously provides funding for this tuition scholarship to help someone attend the NANT Conference who might not otherwise be able to attend. If she had her way, this scholarship would be provided anonymously, but we like to give a name and voice to her thoughtfulness.

So, in the spirit of special healthcare workers who have supported Ann and her family members by providing family-centered care in the midst of an intensive care environment, NANT offers the Ann J. Beischel Scholarship for Family-Centered Care. This scholarship covers tuition for 1 attendee for NANT 10 Main Conference, Pre-Conference if desired, and one night in Conference hotel*.

OTs, PTs, and SLPs – If you have made intentional efforts to improve family-centered care in your NICU, we want to hear from you!

This scholarship is open to NANT Members who fit the above criteria and meet the application deadline.
