One Question for the NICU Professional

The question I
ask myself as I leave the hospital for the day:

"If everyone in the NICU interacted with babies, parents, and co-workers
like I did today, would this be a better unit or a worse one?"

And sometimes I fall short of where I want to be. But perfection is never the
goal.

Awareness is.

You are human. You have days that don’t work out how you planned or
interactions that could’ve been managed more gracefully.

Give yourself permission to start again. No guilt. No shame. Tomorrow is a new
day.

And keep asking the question.

(It’s a great one to ask at home too.)
