Course Description: This course will provide education and resources for therapists in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) based on evidence and expert opinion for rare diagnoses, including Pierre Robin Sequence (PRS), Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), neuromuscular conditions, and Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).

Target Audience: OT, SLP, PT, RN, MD, and Neonatal professionals

Level: Intermediate

CE Credit: PT, OT, SLP – 1.5 hours

Course Fee: Free for NANT Members or $57 for Non-members

Objectives 

  1. Define at least 3 identifying signs and symptoms that patients may exhibit with Pierre Robin Sequence, Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), neuromuscular conditions, and Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
  1. Differentiate therapeutic support and intervention that could be utilized for patients with Pierre Robin Sequence, Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), neuromuscular conditions, and Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) in the NICU.
  1. Identify barriers and conductive qualities for implementation of therapeutic strategies and interventions for patients with Pierre Robin Sequence, Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), neuromuscular conditions, and Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) within the learner’s specific NICU.

Instructional Method: Lecture, videos, case studies, and handouts. Learning assessment and course evaluation follow the course.
