We learn more about you in so many ways at NANT – through the private Member Facebook Community, email, live questions during Ignite and Launch Guidance Calls, written feedback on our courses and events, and meaningful in-person conversations at the conference. It’s a privilege to be trusted with your stories of what’s going well and what’s challenging. Sometimes the challenges are quite heavy, and whether they are interpersonal or systemic in nature, they can chip away at your passion.
There is no panacea for the complexities that accompany working in healthcare. There is support, which we hope we provide in the ways we are able. And while it is not solely up to you to fix the challenging situations you often had no hand in creating, it can feel like relief to have agency within the swirl.
Consider looking through this lens today when you walk into the NICU: connection heals.

Pause before you walk into any patient room or area, the break room, lunch, a meeting – take a breath and look through a connection heals lens. Observe.
You might see a mom sitting next to an isolette, arms empty. Is there something you can do, even briefly, to support a moment of connection between her and her baby? Between you two?
If you find a co-worker sitting alone at lunch (do you have time for lunch??) consider how your conversation might change when you look through a connection heals lens – maybe a little more humor, curiosity, noticing, listening. Sometimes we forget to really see the people we work with every day.
Inevitably, you walk past someone in the halls of the hospital who is clearly lost. Instead of rushing past, you pause for 30 seconds and guide them in the right direction. Your connection – warm, supportive – may feel like relief in an otherwise overwhelming situation.
