We can’t wait for you to meet Ashley Solomon, PsyD, CEDS, the closing keynote speaker for NANT 12. She will wrap up the event on Saturday, April 2 with her talk titled, Courageous Communication: Cultivating our Power to Foster Effective Teamwork.
I was fortunate to meet Ashley in person last week – the first in-person work meeting I’ve had since early 2020. She is smart, kind, powerful, and dedicated to understanding neonatal therapists as she prepares her talk.
We discussed the challenges you face every day at work when it comes to communicating with multiple team members, NICU parents, and each other. She looks forward to meeting you and experiencing the energy of the NANT Conference.
Here’s a little more info about her presentation:
Title: Courageous Communication: Cultivating our Power to Foster Effective Teamwork
Speaker: Ashley Solomon, PsyD, CEDS
Description: Collaborative cultures and high-functioning teams are crucial in the delivery of the life-saving care that happens in the NICU setting. However, neonatal therapists are often presented with challenges to engaging fully in these systems as a result of historical factors, team dynamics, and interpersonal challenges. Drawing on both organizational and relational science, this presentation will highlight how neonatal therapists can amplify their impact – thus improving outcomes for babies and families. Dr. Solomon will offer insights and practices for empowering therapists to connect, communicate, and collaborate courageously, even in the most challenging of circumstances.
- Participants will be able to describe three factors that contribute to a high-functioning neonatal team environment.
- Participants will be able to explain at least two factors that may impede the optimal functioning of a team.
- Participants will be able to identify at least one practice that they can use to communicate more effectively within their current team environment.
